StreetSmart partners keep making a difference to the lives of vulnerable children, R5 at a time!

In addition to the 101 restaurants throughout South Africa where patrons can make a voluntary R5 donation added to their bill, guests at an increasing number of wine tasting rooms, B&B’s, guest houses and hotels are now able to make a contribution.

All funds raised support organisations working with street children within the area where the establishments are located putting the money donated to work where it is needed most in the local community.

Congratulations to GOLD Restaurant (Cape Town), La Mouette (Cape Town), Moyo @ Kirstenbosch (Cape Town),
Stacked Diner (Cape Town) and Chatters Bistro (Knysna).

“We would like to extend a big Thank You to StreetSmart and the local community for embracing this initiative so generously. We as Bitou Family Care are extremely grateful for the support we receive through our partner organisation, Home from Home. Through StreetSmart’s support we can provide event better service to help stabilise the lives of children in need,” says Elisabeth Wenz, co-founder of Bitou Family Care.

The Knysna beneficiary is Sinethemba, and the funds donated will be utilised towards the salary of the auxiliary social worker. “Because of StreetSmart’s support we can help children who are going onto the streets and get involved with drugs and alcohol, to be reconciled with their parents and teachers. We help them to work through their challenges together through our programmes at Sinethemba. I was helped in this way, and am grateful to be able to give back to the kids in my community,” says Siphamandla Halahala, the social auxiliary worker at Sinethemba.
